齿轮、稻穗象征着工人阶级的农民阶级。金色的齿轮，仿佛带动整个国家飞转向前，硕大的稻麦穗，也同样象征着人民的幸福，祖国的繁荣。

国徽的五颗星，代表中国共产党领导下的中国人民大团结，正上方的一颗大星，代表着中国共产党。党是灯塔，是太阳，没有共产党就没有新中国。四颗小星在一部呈半圆形环抱，象征亿万人民，心心向着共产党，坚强团结，众志成城。
